WINNIPEG (Staff) – Manitoba provincial court has found a Winnipeg company and its president guilty of improperly packaging and labeling fertilizer.
Agriculture Canada inspectors discovered a problem with 132 packages of 25-kilogram PowerRich Micro-Pak in May 1993. The labels on the fertilizer did not include a guaranteed analysis.
Inspectors tested the fertilizer and found the ingredients were not consistent with what was on the label.
The case went to trial on Oct. 23, 1995. Last week, Judge J. Guy ordered PowerRich Corporation to pay a $300 fine and president Neil Knight to pay a $200 fine for the offence.
