Cows and Fish project

The Alberta Riparian Habitat Management Project, or Cows and Fish project is supported by provincial and federal agencies to manage waterways and their shorelines better. Support comes from the Alberta Cattle Commission, Trout Unlimited Canada, Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, Alberta Agriculture, Alberta Environment and the federal department of fisheries and oceans. Funding from the Canada-Alberta Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture Agreement totaled $85,942 over four years while the co-operating partners provided $251,000 in money and volunteer effort.

Barbara Duckworth has covered many livestock shows and conferences across the continent since 1988. Duckworth had graduated from Lethbridge College’s journalism program in 1974, later earning a degree in communications from the University of Calgary. Duckworth won many awards from the Canadian Farm Writers Association, American Agricultural Editors Association, the North American Agricultural Journalists and the International Agriculture Journalists Association.
