Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available Nov. 22 or Nov. 29.

U.S. hogs averaged $83.79 on a carcass basis Nov. 29, down from $82.72 Nov. 22.

Saskatchewan, Manitoba sign Arctic Gateway deal

Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Arctic Gateway Group have signed an MOU to strengthen trade through the Port of Churchill.

The U.S. pork cutout was $90.31 per hundredweight Nov. 29, down from $91.77 Nov. 22.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Nov. 29 was 1.905 million. It was 2.427 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.404 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Nov. 30 Signature Four price was $213.20 per 100 kilograms, down from $217.60.

The Nov. 30 Hams Marketing cash price was $211.20, while on Nov. 30 it was $215.60. HyLife was $225.88 this week and $230.10 on Nov. 23. OlyWest was $218.70, down from $224.80 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $227.70, from $234.40, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $225.88 this week. On Nov. 23 it was $230.11.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $570-$600 per cwt., hot hanging weight, for finished bulls and $535-$590 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bulls were not available, while mature cows were $400-$425 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$440-$460 per cwt. for bulls and $425-$445 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were C$3 per pound for bulls and $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 429 sheep and 1,000 lambs sold Nov. 25.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta. reported that 544 sheep and 88 goats sold Nov. 25.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $300-$365 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $300-$370, 70-85 lb. were $280-$350, 86-105 lb. were $260-$310, and 106 lb. and heavier were $235-$263. Wool rams were $155-$220 per cwt. Cull ewes were $155-$230.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $270-$350, 55-69 lb. were $290-$365, 70-85 lb. were $280-$335, 86-105 lb. were $255-$295 and 106 lb. and heavier were $225-$250. Hair rams were $160-$205 per cwt. Cull ewes were $160-$245.
