Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $58.34 Sept. 13. It was not available Sept. 6.

U.S. hogs averaged $76 on a carcass basis Sept. 13, down from $76.79 Sept. 6.

One Beer Market Updates Day 3 – Lentils and beef

Day 3 of the One Beer Market Update at Ag in Motion 2025.

The U.S. pork cutout was $93.90 per hundredweight Sept. 13, down from $96.10 Sept. 6.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 13 was 2.416 million. It was 1.932 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.385 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Sept. 7 Signature Four price was $207.85 per 100 kilograms, down from $208.28.

The Sept. 7 Hams Marketing cash price was $205.85, while on Sept. 7 it was $206.28, HyLife was not available this week or last week. OlyWest was $208.40, down from $209.00 last week.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $222.50, from $221.70, and HyLife’s adjusted price was not available this week or last week.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices of $530-$560 per cwt. hot hanging weight for finished bulls and $500-$530 per cwt. for finished heifers. Mature bull prices were not available, while mature cows were $350-$375 per cwt.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$430-$455 per cwt. for bulls and $410-$430 per cwt. for heifers. Prices for mature bulls and cows were not available. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were C$3 per pound for bulls and $2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 377 sheep and 689 lambs were sold Sept. 9.

Beaver Hill Auctions at To field, Alta., reported that 2,124 sheep and 963 goats sold Sept. 9

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $250-$335 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $240-$315, 70-85 lb. were $240-$380, 86-105 lb. were $220-$266, and 106 lb. and heavier were $218-$255. Wool rams were $135-$215 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$235.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $235-$295, 55-69 lb. were $235-$285, 70-85 lb. were $240-$275, 86-105 lb. were $215-$262 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$230. Hair rams were $135-$215 per cwt. Cull ewes were $145-$235.
