The loonie was at US$0.7330 or US$1=C$1.3643 as of 8:32 a.m. CDT, compared to US$0.7335 or US$1=C$1.3633 on Monday. The United States Dollar Index was up 0.06 of a point at 105.06.
Crude oil prices continued to decline after Hurricane Beryl passed through southern Texas and the Gulf of Mexico. Brent crude oil dropped US$0.26 at US$85.49 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) retreated US$0.23 at US$82.10/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index lost 75.27 points at 22,050.86.
Gold gained US$7.10 per ounce at US$2,370.60.
