Agency appoints two
Clarence Jensen of Abbotsford, B.C., and Julien Dufour of Pointe-au-Pic, Quebec, were given two-year appointments to the Canadian Broiler Hatching Egg Marketing Agency last week.
Jensen, a poultry producer, replaces Robert Hall, an Ontario producer whose term expired in August.
Dufour, a company president in the industry, was reappointed after his previous term expired last year. The agency oversees the orderly marketing of hatching eggs and chicks.
Work in Zimbabwe
An agricultural exchange organized by the Canadian International Development Agency will allow farmers to visit and work in Zimbabwe.

Funding is available for 10 young Canadian farmers to spend two months, from mid-February to mid-April, on co-operative farms. Individuals will be required to raise $2,000 each, with CIDA putting up most of the remaining funding. Participants will examine common agricultural problems and learn the role of farm co-operatives in Zimbabwe.
Applicants must live on a farm and be between the ages of 18 and 29. The program is sponsored by the Saskatchewan Federation of Production Co-operatives. More information is available from Larry Marshall at 306-747-2725.
Co-operative awards
Nine people received Saskatchewan co-operative awards during the province’s official co-operatives week Oct. 17-22.
Recipients of orders of merit and certificates of merit include: Norm Bromberger of Calgary; Jake Berg (posthumous) of Springside; Art Gray of Foam Lake; James Marjoram of Speers; Paul Martyniuk of Prince Albert; Robert Mickleborough of Regina, Clifford Murch of Lancer; Brock Turner of Cupar; and Thora Wiggens of Prince Albert.
All recipients have made contributions to various co-operatives in the province. The awards were announced by Saskatchewan economic development minister Dwain Lingenfelter.
