Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Sept. 15 was $61.93; on Sept. 8 it was $58.43.

U.S. hogs averaged was $77.53 on a carcass basis Sept. 15, down from $79.14 on Sept. 8.

The U.S. pork cutout was $ 98.29 per hundred weight Sept. 15, up from $97.80 on Sept. 8.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 15 was 2.381 million. It was 1.886 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.402 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Sept. 16 Signature Four price was $211.06 per 100 kilograms, down from $211.88.

Global pulse consumption to grow

Global per capita pulse consumption is expected to rise 23 per cent by 2034.

The Sept. 16 Hams Marketing cash price was $209.06, down from $209.88, HyLife was $224.42 this week; on Sept. 9 it was not available. OlyWest was $210.30, down from $212.50.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $226.40 from $223.00 and HyLife’s adjusted price was 228.70. On Sept. 9 was not available.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 424 sheep and 657 lambs sold Sept. 11.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta. reported 2, 273 sheep and 672 goats sold Sept. 11.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $185-$235 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $190-$235, 70-85 lb. were $185-$215, 86-105 lb. were $190-$230, and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$217. Wool rams were $100-$164 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$155.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $170-$210, 55-69 lb. were $170-$205, 70-85 lb. were $170-$198, 86-105 lb. were $184-$210 and 106 lb. and heavier were $170-$205. Hair rams were $80-$180 per cwt. Cull ewes were $80-$140.
