Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts March 10 was $61.05, up from $57.94 March 3.

U.S. hogs averaged $78.17 on a carcass basis March 10, up from $78.04 March 3.

The U.S. pork cutout was $87.80 per hundredweight March 10, up from $85.57 March 3.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 10 was 2.392 million, down from 2.396 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.388 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the March 4 Signature Four price was C$200.75 per 100 kilograms, up from $197.95.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $198.75, up from $195.95, HyLife was $213.57, up from $199.21 previously, and OlyWest was $192.20, up from $189.20.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $205.20, from $203.20 and HyLife’s adjusted price was 213.57, up from $199.21.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 625 sheep and 362 lambs sold March 6.

Beaver Hill Auctions in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,623 sheep and 310 goats sold Feb. 27.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $228-275 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $220-266, 70-85 lb. were $220-263, 86-105 lb. were $215-258 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-253. Wool rams were $90-165 per cwt. Cull ewes were $95-185.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-235, 55-69 lb. were $230-265, 70-85 lb. were $230-246, 86-105 lb. were $218-245 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-229. Hair rams were $108-170 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-185.
