Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available this week.
U.S. hogs averaged $86.34 on a carcass basis Sept. 23, down from $90.86 Sept. 16.
The U.S. pork cutout was $100.93 per hundredweight Sept. 23, down from $106.39 Sept. 16.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 24 was 2.538 million, up from 2.465 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.583 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Sept. 24 Signature Four price was C$234.06 per 100 kilograms, up from $229.52.

Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,170 sheep sold Sept 19.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 941 sheep and 390 goats sold Sept. 19.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $180-$240 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $200-$255, 70-85 lb. were $170-$213, 86-105 lb. were $150-$186 and 106 lb. and heavier were $145-$170. Wool rams were $110-$176 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$145.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $160-$225 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $180-$215, 70-85 lb. were $170-$200, 86-105 lb. were $150-$181 and 106 lb. and heavier were $135-$170. Hair rams were $127-$160 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$165.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada range from $4-$4.25 per pound hot hanging weight with the occasional sale higher. Most animals were purchased at $4.25 per pound. Canadian buyers are paying $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.50-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.75-$4 per pound hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.50-$3.75. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
