Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was n/a June 10, was $88.54 June 3.

U.S. hogs averaged $115.30 on a carcass basis June 10, up from $112.09 June 3.

The U.S. pork cutout was $109.16 per hundred weight June 10 down from $109.38 June 3.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 11 was 2.372 million, up from 2.044 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.432 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 11, Signature Four price was C$234.93 per 100 kilograms, up from $232.90.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. 1343 sheep 32 go

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 688 sheep and 140 goats sold June 6.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-$256 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $230-$297, 70-85 lb. were $255-$313, 86-105 lb. were $230-$283 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$260. Wool rams were $90-$255 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$260.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $175-$215 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $170-$235, 70-85 lb. were $210-$250, 86-105 lb. were $210-$240 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$220. Hair rams were $140-$220 per cwt. Cull ewes were $100-$170.

Bison

Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4.00 – $4.25 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls $3.75-$4.25 on heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.

U.S. buyers are paying US$3.60-$4.00 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
