Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $79.15 April 22, up from $76.52 April 15.
U.S. hogs averaged $99.13 on a carcass basis April 22. The price was unavailable April 15.
The U.S. pork cutout was $111.28 per hundredweight April 22, up from $110.21 April 15.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to April 23 was 2.374 million, up from 2.341 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.471 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the April 23 Signature Four price was C$224.75 per 100 kilograms, up from $221.78.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4-$4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and $3.75-$4.15 for heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.60-$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,545 sheep sold April 18.
