Sustainable farming supported
The federal government recently announced support of up to $730,000 for four adoption stream projects approved under the Agricultural Clean Technology Program in eastern Ontario.
The program aims to help farmers adapt to climate change and reduce emissions.
Funding is focused on green energy and energy efficiency, precision agriculture and the bioeconomy.
Four local organizations will receive the money to buy and install clean technologies, which in this case is either for new rooftop photovoltaic solar systems or to install a more efficient grain dryer.

Drive Away Hunger provides meals
Farm Credit Canada and other partners in Canada’s agriculture and food industry’s Drive Away Hunger program provided more than 36 million meals to food banks and food programs across the country.
FCC contributed an equivalent of 2.6 million meals toward this year’s record-setting result, and nearly doubled the campaign goal of 20 million meals.
Initiated by FCC, the industry-wide program has been collecting food and cash for nutritious meals for the past 18 years.
To date, FCC employees, customers and community partners have provided over 121 million meals to food banks in Canada.
