Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts is $47.09 Oct. 29, down from $50.90 Oct. 22.
U.S. hogs averaged $61.70 on a carcass basis Oct. 29 down from $65.63 Oct. 22.
The U.S. pork cutout was $96.52 per hundred weight Oct. 29, down from $98.27 Oct 22.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Oct. 30 was 2.551 million, down from 2.598 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.694 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Oct. 30 Signature Four price was C$181.61 per 100 kilograms, down from $189.42.

Canadian grain, oilseed and pulse exports are off to a slow start, but there are some bright spots, according to the Canadian Grain Commission’s most recent weekly export data report.
The Hams Marketing cash price was $179.61, down from $187.42, HyLife was $191.29, down from $199.43, and OlyWest was $185.10 down from $195.00. OlyWest 2021 was $203.50 down from $215.10 and HyLife’s adjusted price was $198.38 down from $206.92.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1,114 sheep, lambs and 67 goats were sold Oct 25.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,457 sheep and 278 goats sold Oct 25.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $190-$230 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $190-$235, 70-85 lb. were $175-$230, 86-105 lb. were $182-$220 and 106 lb. and heavier were $195-$222. Wool rams were $135-$185 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$188.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$185 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $180-$220, 70-85 lb. were $175-$201, 86-105 lb. were $179-$195 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$205. Hair rams were $140-$175 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$165.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4 – $4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls $3.90-$4.15 on heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.85-$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
