A Saskatchewan-based livestock and genetics company is expected to sign contracts worth $600,000 with China before the end of the year.
Sydney Palmer, of Canada Livestock Services Ltd. at Marsden, said a trade trip to China earlier this month yielded the contracts.
“Basically we’re talking about 100 and some hogs, 200 to 300 (cattle) embryos,” he said. “We’re talking about 50 bulls in one deal and a possible 40 in another deal.”
The cattle breeds include mainly Hereford, Angus, Simmental and Limousin as well as some others.
Other contracts involve providing training for Chinese livestock workers.
“We’ll try and put a whole package together of what we can sell them, why we’re going to sell them what and then what follow up we’re going to supply,” Palmer said.
