Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $76.20 April 9, up from $74.28 April 2.
U.S. hogs averaged $100.21 on a carcass basis April 9, up from $98.94 April 2.
The U.S. pork cutout was $113.17 per hundredweight April 9, up from $109.51 April 2.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to April 10 was 2.487 million, up from 2.463 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.393 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the April 10 Signature Four price was C$219.63 per 100 kilograms, up from $216.21.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $217.63, up from $214.21, HyLife was $233.93, up from $230.57, and OlyWest was $224.90, up from $217.30. OlyWest 2021 was $233, up from $227.40, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $236.07, up from $231.40.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $3.75-$4.10 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and heifers on light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.80-$5 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.80 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 487 sheep and lambs and seven goats sold April 5.
All classes sold steady to pre-holiday markets.
