Dairy herds considered to be the top 25 in Canada were announced Feb. 9 by Lactanet, the Canadian network for dairy excellence.
The herds are selected based on their herd management scores, which involve six criteria: milk value, age at first calving, herd efficiency, longevity, udder health and calving intervals.
The top 25 are all from Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia, but Lactanet also provided a list of the top three dairies by province, including those in Western Canada.
