An Ontario family has purchased the former Canadian Agra Foods Alfalfa Dehydration plant in Tiverton, Ont., and is operating it under the name Snobelen Dehy Inc.
The Snobelen family owns a number of seed and grain companies in North America and Europe.
In a news release, general manager Sam Snobelen said the plant has been operating for three weeks.
Snobelen Dehy uses excess steam from a nearby power generating station to produce dehydrated alfalfa cubes. Alfamaize production is expected to begin later this month.
