Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $39.67 per cwt. Jan. 3, up from $38.63 on Dec. 27. U.S. hogs averaged $50.50 on a carcass basis Jan. 3, up from $49.06 Dec. 27. The U.S. pork cutout was $74.22 per cwt. Jan. 3, down from $75.04 Dec. 27.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Jan. 4 was 2.293 million, down from 2.029 million the previous week. Slaughter 2.251 million last year at the same time
In Canada Jan. 4 Signature Five price was C$131.16 per 100 kilograms, down from C$131.70 the week before. On a per hundred weight basis price was $59.49 down from $59.74 the week before.

Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range offering prices from C$4.40-$5.00 sales reported at C$5.40. per pound hot hanging weight.
U.S. buyers are offering US$3.85-4.15/lb with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs. Grade A heifers offerings of C$4.40-$4.80 HHW with some sales C$5.10, U.S. buyers are offering US$3.60-3.80/lb.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1,141 sheep and lambs and 26 goats sold Dec. 31.
Light cut and new crop lambs traded stronger.
Heavy lambs traded barely steady. Sheep sold higher. Goats sold steady.
