Global Markets: Canadian inflation rates drop

WINNIPEG, Feb. 27 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Canada’s inflation rate has dropped, as a reflection of lower gas prices. January’s inflation rate was 1.4% in January, compared to 2.0% in December 2018. Canada’s central bank has raised interest rates several times since July 2017. The next interest rate will be announced
on March 6.

– Former Canadian Justice Minister and Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould will testify before MP’s on Wednesday after obtaining a waiver of cabinet confidentiality from the Prime Minister’s office. Wilson-Raybould will testify in regards to her involvement with the government’s prosecution of engineering and construction giant SNC-Lavalin.
