Applications accepted for community funding
Federated Co-operative Ltd. is accepting applications for capital projects for its Co-op Community Spaces Program.
This year it is dedicating $2 million in funding for the program.
Capital funding between $25,000 and $150,000 is available per project.
FCL invites registered non-profit organizations, registered charities and community service co-operatives to apply online between Feb. 1 and March 1.
Categories include recreation, environmental conservation and urban agriculture.
The program was launched in 2015 to help protect, beautify and improve places for everyone. Since then, it has provided $6.5 million to 88 projects, including parks, greenhouses and sports fields.

Projects have included a garden outside the downtown Victoria library, a multi-use trail network near a Manitoba national park and a long abandoned railroad bed that’s being turned into a park in Hafford, Sask.

Boehringer Ingelheim donates to centre
The University of Saskatchewan has announced a five-year partnership and $250,000 contribution from Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd. that will support advancements in innovation and leadership at the university’s Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence.
The partnership will support cow-calf research and critical data collection in animal safety and handling techniques at the newly named Boehringer Ingelheim Cattle Handling and Teaching Unit.
The pharmaceutical company will also provide the centre with technical expertise related to research protocol review and modernization in the areas of pain management, animal well-being and disease prevention.
The Boehringer Ingelheim donation builds on industry contributions to the centre made by A&W Canada, the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association and Farm Credit Canada.
