Roast beef products distributed in Alberta and perhaps nationally are being recalled by Erie Meat Products Ltd. due to potential listeria contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency today expanded a recall that it first announced April 9. It now includes seven seasoned cooked roast beef products with best before dates up to June 6. A full list can be found here.
The products were sold in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador and possibly other provinces, the CFIA said in a news release.

The recall was triggered by a food-borne illness outbreak, which led to a CFIA investigation. Illnesses have been reported in connection with a similar product, the CFIA said, but a connection with the noted roast beef hasn’t been confirmed as the culprit.
Those who have purchased the meat should throw it out or return it to place of purchase. Symptoms associated with listeria ingestion include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
