Canadian Western Agribition has announced a new beef championship for this year’s show.
The Royal Bank Beef Supreme Challenge will put head-to-head the grand champion bulls and females from nine of North America’s top shows. Winners will be crowned supreme champions, and receive a guaranteed $10,000 cash award. They will also be eligible for about $50,000 in other prizes from sponsors and exhibitors.
Agribition president Bill Aulie said the champions from Canadian shows in Edmonton, Lloydminster, Saskatoon, Brandon, Man., and Toronto, as well as American winners from Billings, Montana, Kansas City, Missouri, and Louisville, Kentucky, will be eligible to compete against Agribition winners.

Breed champions from other shows will be invited whether or not that breed has a show at Agribition.
The Supreme Challenge will be the final purebred beef event, which runs Nov. 21-28.
Aulie said it is unlikely all the winners will participate in the first year. However, the idea is catching on already.
Kansas City has moved its show ahead two weeks to enable a trip to Agribition. Billings hosts the first show on the fall circuit.
“This has the potential to become one of the really special events in the North American livestock industry,” Aulie said.
