REGINA (Staff) – The president of the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corp. will be transferred to another government department as of July 11.
Agriculture minister Darrel Cunningham said Terry Tangjerd’s removal from the position he has held since early 1992 was simply a management decision.
“It was time to make a change,” he said in an interview. “Whether you’re a private or public corporation, your top management are a question of getting the right team together at the right time and the right place.”
Cunningham said the province continues to work to make the corporation more customer and service oriented.
“We’re beginning to realize that we’re in the business of selling insurance and satisfying customers,” he said. “We’ve had some rough spots in terms of being able to keep customers informed and serviced.”
Cunningham said Tangjerd’s involvement in the NDP government’s controversial changes to Saskatchewan’s GRIP program had nothing to do with his removal.
Comptroller Doug Matthies will take over as acting president until a replacement is hired.
