A Prince Edward Island farmer’s cattle herd was hit by lightening so powerful it killed 10 and knocked several over a fence, The Canadian Press reports.

Six cows and four calves died on the Blair Henry farm, the CP reports.

The violent storm went through his farm at Vernon Bridge last weekend and when Henry went out the following morning he saw the devastation.

He said the storm was so potent it appears to have tossed some of the animals over and on top of the fence. He said most of the dead animals were close to the fence under a stand of trees, but that one was laying about 27 metres away in the middle of a field, the CP story said.

The story quotes Henry as saying the scene was “like a war zone.”
