Information on range and forage management is now available on a CD ROM from Saskatchewan Agriculture.
The CD is available for viewing and for ordering, at no cost, at all rural service centres in the province.
The compact disk, that can be read with a computer, has categories on sod seeding, annual forages, seed production and brush control with foliar-applied herbicides. Within each category are a variety of publications. For example, the weed section has publications on downy brome, foxtail barley, pasture sage and problem weeds.
“Sound forage management is a key to reducing costs of production on livestock-based farms. The production of forage as livestock feed or as a cash crop is gaining greater acceptance as a relatively stable income source as well,” said Brian Sim, who compiled the material.
