OTTAWA (Staff) — The three Prairie wheat pools are re-examining the role of Prairie Pools Inc., their joint federal lobbying arm, says PPI chair Ken Edie.
The first casualty in the review is Ottawa-based PPI executive director Bryan Davidson, who left his job at the end of May after little more than a year.
Edie said Davidson left in a “mutual agreement” with PPI.
Last year, former executive director Javier Caceres also had a parting of the ways with PPI. Davidson was hired to replace him from a job as Edmonton-based executive director of the Canadian Dehydrators Association.

Edie said directors of the three pools will consider the future direction and usefulness of PPI, established more than a decade ago as a federal lobbying and policy arm of the pools.
Decision in July
PPI council, made up of 33 representatives of the three pools, will consider the issue in July in Lethbridge.
“We haven’t changed the focus of PPI,” Eddie said. “What we are doing is having a review of the function and direction of PPI. This will be fully discussed at council in July.”
At least until then, Edie will be acting executive director, as well as chair.
