Feed Grains: Saudi Arabia looking for barley

WINNIPEG, March 16 (CNS Canada) – Saudi Arabia is tendering to purchase 1.5 million tonnes of feed barley, according to reports out of the country, with delivery of the twenty-five 60,000 tonne shipments to take place in May and June.

Spring seeding is underway in Ukraine, according to a report from UkrAgroConsult, with 4 per cent of the total intended grain crops in the ground as of March 14. The seeding pace was slightly behind the year-ago level for this time.

Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were firmer on Thursday, boosted by solid weekly export demand of over 1.2 million tonnes.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$155 to C$162 per tonne range as of March 10, which were steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were steady, at C$175 to C$180 per tonne in Lethbridge.
