Canadian Financial Close: TSX churns higher with gold

WINNIPEG, December 28 – The Canadian dollar finished
relatively unchanged against its US counterpart Wednesday.
Losses in crude oil were offset by gains in gold.
The Canadian dollar closed at C$0.7377 or US$1=C$1.3555,
compared to Wednesday’s close of C$0.0.7388 or US$1=C$1.3535.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index advanced on Wednesday, tracking
gains in commodities.
The index rose 32.95 points or 0.21% to 15,361.10.
Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:

AGT Food and Ingredients—–up $ 0.19 at $ 36.48
Agrium Incorporated———-up $ 0.09 at $135.85
Buhler Industries————– $ 0.00 at $ 4.50
Maple Leaf Foods————-dn $ 0.04 at $ 27.95
Potash Corp. of Sask———up $ 0.14 at $ 24.54
