WINNIPEG, December 16 – The Canadian dollar ended flat on
Friday as gains in gold offset declines in crude oil.
A lack of domestic data contributed to the calmer tone.
The Canadian dollar closed at C$0.7494 or US$1.3344,
compared to Thursday’s close of C$0.7492 or US$1=C$1.3347.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index posted modest gains Friday,
with gains in utility firms leading the way forward.
The energy group also rose 1.5% with Enbridge realizing a
2.8% increase.
The index advanced 33.89 points or 0.2% to 15,252.20.
