Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, December 16 – The Canadian dollar continued to decline against its US counterpart in early activity on Friday.

This week the loonie has felt pressure from the US Federal Reserve raising the country’s interest rates.

At 8:53 CST Friday, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7481 or US$=C$1.3367, which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7492 or US$1=C$1.3347.

In Canadian domestic data, foreign acquisitions of Canadian securities amounted to C$15.8 billion in October, mainly Canadian corporate debt securities, Statistics Canada said in a report on Friday.

The TSX was up 70.89 points at 8:53 CST Friday morning to sit at 15,289.20.
