Winnipeg, Nov. 8 (CNS Canada) – Canadian yellow pea prices may be running out of room to the upside, as bids in major importing countries are coming down, according to the latest report from Alberta Pulse. Green peas could still see some more strength, due to tighter supplies internationally.
In other pulse news, Australia may be set to grow a record large mung bean crop this year, as production issues in Indonesia and China have caused mung bean prices to climb higher.
From a pricing standpoint, number 2 Laird lentils are currently topping out at about 57 cents per pound in Western Canada, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire data. Prices are unchanged on the week, but up from a month ago. Red lentils are bid at up to 35 cents per pound.

Green pea prices range from C$7.50 to as high as C$8.50 per bushel in Western Canada. Yellow peas range from C$6.85 to C$8.00 per bushel.
Large calibre (10mm) kabuli chickpeas are currently seeing prices top out at 53 cents per pound in Western Canada.
