Alberta seed potato producers have secured access to Thailand.

The deal could be worth as much as $2 million annually, said an announcement from federal agriculture minister Lawrence MacAulay.

Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick have been allowed to export to Thailand since 2009.

Alberta is a major seed producing region and leads the nation in exports. Last year, Alberta growers produced more than 128,000 tonnes of seed.
