Winnipeg, June 23 – Warm temperatures and continued precipitation are helping crops across most of Saskatchewan see good growth, according to the latest report from Saskatchewan Agriculture for the week ended June 20.
Overall, 99 percent of the fall cereals, 96 percent of the pulse crops, 95 percent of the spring cereals, and 94 percent of the oilseeds are at or ahead of their normal stage of development for this time of year, according to the report.
The majority of crops are also in good-to-excellent condition.
Most areas of the province saw rain during the week, with the totals ranging from trace amounts to 80 millimetres.

Alberta Crop Report: Rains in the south, dryness in the north
Rain fell onto the southern half of Alberta last week, while hot and dry conditions persisted in the northern half, according to the province’s crop report released on July 18.
Across the province, topsoil moisture conditions on cropland were rated as six percent surplus, 86 percent adequate, and eight percent short. Hay land and pasture topsoil moisture was rated as three percent surplus, 86 percent adequate, and 11 percent short.
Weed control operations were hampered by rain and wind in some areas during the week, according to the report.
Excess moisture was also causing some problems, although less than two percent of the province’s cropland and pasture was considered flooded.
On the other hand, four percent of seeded acres, nine percent of forage land, and 12 percent of pasture was considered to be under low-moisture stress.
