WINNIPEG, November 25 The Canadian dollar weakened against its US counterpart on Wednesday as crude oil futures etched lower.
At 8:40 a.m. CST the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7506 or C$1.3323 which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7514, or C$1.3309.
At 8:40 a.m. New York mercantile crude oil futures had lost US$0.84 to sit at US$42.03 a barrel, as high global supplies pressured prices.
In Canadian domestic data, the volume of rail freight carried in Canada totalled 28.2 million tonnes in September, down 4.1 per cent from the same month last year, Statistics Canada said in a report on Wednesday.
The TSX was weaker in early activity, down 1.78 points at 8:40 a.m. CST to sit at 13,406.05.
