WINNIPEG, September 29 – The Canadian dollar weakened against
its US counterpart Tuesday as Statistics Canada released reports on
natural gas transportation and the industrial product index.

At 8:45 a.m. CDT the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7455 or C$1.3414
which compares with Monday’s North American close of US$0.7466, or
C$1.3394.

The Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) declined 0.3 per cent
in August, mainly as a result of lower prices for energy and petroleum
products. The Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI) declined 6.6 per cent
in August, led by lower prices for crude energy products.

In other Canadian domestic data, Canadian natural gas utilities
received 11.8 billion cubic metres of total marketable gas in July,
up five per cent from the same month in 2014.

Gas utilities sold 5.1 billion cubic metres of natural gas in
July, up 1.4 per cent. Revenues decreased 38 per cent from 12 months
earlier to C$719.5 million, reflecting the continued downward trend
in natural gas prices.

The TSX was stronger in early activity, up 9.15 points at 8:45
a.m. CDT to sit at 13,013.73.
