Herbs 2000
Saskatoon will host an international herb conference in July 2000.
It will be the first time Canada hosts the event.
The Saskatchewan Herb and Spice Association, Canadian Herb Society and the International Herb Association will co-ordinate the conference, which is expected to deal with growing, processing and marketing issues.
That will be followed by Herbfest, an event in Outlook, Sask., that will allow the public to see, taste and sample Saskatchewan-grown herbs.
The two events combined have been dubbed Herbs 2000.

AQHA names rep
Gary Harris of Carnduff, Sask., has been selected for the American Quarter Horse Association breeder referral program, designed to bring buyers together with American Quarter horse owners and breeders.
As a member, Harris must agree to uphold certain standards and adhere to a written code of ethics. To qualify, breeders must be AQHA members and listed as breeders of at least one registered foal for at least four consecutive years including the current year.
Anniversary party
Saskatchewan Wheat Pool has planned what it calls the World’s Biggest Barn Dance on June 26 to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
The event begins with a pancake brunch at 11:30 a.m. ($3 per person) at the Regina Exhibition Grounds, with a trade show running all afternoon, along with a children’s program and other entertainment, including homecoming ceremonies.
A family meal ($5 per person) is scheduled for 4:30-6:30 p.m., with a concert slated from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The concert features Paul Brandt, Michelle Wright and Charlie Major. Tickets cost $32 a person.
A dance ($10 per person) follows from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. with the Johner Brothers performing.
Sask Pool members, employees, family members, guests and retirees of the pool and its affiliates can attend.
Proceeds from the event go to The Pool Foundation, a charity that supports rural Saskatchewan through municipal projects.
