While Manitoba residents, backed by Canadian soldiers, continue to battle the flood, relief efforts and financial assistance is pouring in from across the country.
- Manitoba Pool Elevators and The Manitoba Co-operator have set up a registry to connect farmers who need help cleaning up with others willing to lend a hand.

- Saskatchewan Wheat Pool is donating $20,000 to the Red Cross as disaster assistance for Manitoba flood victims. Sask Pool is also collecting donations through its country system. Call 306-569-4273.
- Alberta Wheat Pool will accept cash donations from rural Albertans who wish to help flood victims in the Peace River district and in southern Manitoba.
- United Grain Growers is collecting donations through its system of country elevators. The grain company is kicking off the program by chipping in $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Call 204-944-5515.
- The Canadian Red Cross has set up a national number, 1-888-662-3211, for information on friends and relatives evacuated because of the flood. The co-ordination centre in Manitoba can be reached at 204-986-8000. Financial donations can be mailed to the Canadian Red Cross, 6th Floor, 815-8th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta., T2P 3P2.
- The Salvation Army’s flood headquarters in Winnipeg can be reached at 204-946-9100 or outside the province call 1-888-480-ARMY.
- Financial donations can be made at various banks across the country.
