Bioriginal Food and Science Corp. is the winner of the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership’s Exporter of the Year Award.
The Saskatoon company is seen as a global leader in delivering omega solutions to the food and nutraceutical industries.
It created its first omega ingredient, borage oil, by working directly with regional producers. Over time, it has expanded and added new ingredients. Today, the company has offices and facilities in the United States, Europe, South America and Asia.
“Bioriginal has successfully developed and executed a unique export business model, which combines scientific business and industry expertise to successfully create market-focused omega products,” said STEP president Chad Fleck.

A selection committee comprising Saskatchewan business leaders determined that Bioriginal demonstrated a “high level of performance” in introducing new products and services into world markets, significantly increasing export sales, achieving a high ratio of export sales to total sales and “their positive impact on the provincial economy through job creation.”
Agrocorp International of Moose Jaw and POS Bio Sciences of Saskatoon were the other finalists.
“The strength and caliber of our finalists speaks volumes to the highly competitive nature of the STEP Exporter of the Year Award,” Fleck said.
