SEOUL, South Korea (Staff) — A delegation of Canadian businessmen including Canada Pork International, the Canadian Wheat Board, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and the Canadian Dehydrators Association are accompanying the minister of agriculture on his southeastern Asia trade mission.
While some are exploring markets and possibilities here, others did more than explore. They made sales.
Agri-Tec Canada Inc., a Winnipeg company that represents a diverse clientele, has sold 100 tonnes of orchard grass seed to Korea. Orchard grass hay is popular feed for dairy cattle.
And the Canadian Wheat Board won a 50,000-tonne tender put out by the Korean Feed Association for Australian, European and Canadian-origin feed wheat.
Wheat board commissioner Gordon Machej says the sale is part of the ongoing feed wheat business Canada has done with South Korea in the past two years. Korea has been a two million-plus tonne market for Canadian feed wheat in 1992-93 and 1993-94.
