MP decries ‘dairy terms’

Canadian Alliance MP Maurice Vellacott has proposed a private members

bill that would rein in food product manufacturers that use dairy terms

to describe their product.

The classic example has been the attempt to label liquid extract from

soybeans as “soyamilk” for the anti-animal product consumer market. It

now is more commonly called “soy beverage.”

The bill has little chance of passing because it is a private member’s

bill.
