Pet food plans

Horizon Manufacturing is building a $1.8 million pet food manufacturing plant in Rosthern, Sask.

The privately owned company from Saskatchewan will make premium dog and cat food and supplements.

Construction on the 6,000 sq. foot plant begins this month and is slated for completion in September. When operating, the company expects to employ five to seven people.

Vice-president of operations Jason Skotheim said the company chose its location because of “the enthusiastic support from the town.” As well, many of the company’s primary ingredients can be found locally and it will have access to a major highway.
