Leadership graduates
Twenty-eight people recently graduated from the Canadian Agriculture Lifetime Leadership program.
CALL is an 18-month leadership development program. Graduates studied leadership principles, agriculture and politics, agricultural organizations, rural development, urban issues, industry opportunities, and international trade.

New Ontario farm group
Bob Down, a farmer from Huron County, Ont., has been selected the first chair of the Ontario Agricultural Research Coalition.
The coalition, affiliated with the Ontario Agricultural Commodity Council, is made up of 20 founding member organizations. It provides a forum in which farm groups can consider research issues of common interest and undertake co-operative initiatives.
Murray Porteous of the Haldimand-Norfolk region of Ontario was named vice-chair.
Other members of the executive, all from Ontario, include Sharon Rounds and Grant McLaren of Oxford County, Harry Stam of Haldimand-Norfolk and David Nodwell of Wellington County.
Ken Boyd, who recently retired as a general manager of research programs with the Ontario ministry of agriculture, has been hired to provide part-time managerial services.
The coalition hopes to seek non-traditional funding for research and promote common positions on issues of research funding, co-ordination and priority setting at the provincial and national level.
