Numerous grand champions were declared on the final Saturday at the Calgary Stampede held July 9-14.
Justin Gattey of Consort, Alta. was named grand champion international livestock auctioneer. He was the Canadian champion in 2012.
The grand champion steer at the Stampede Steer Classic went to the partnership of Riley Chalack, Curtis Flewelling, Bowden, Alta. Royden Anderson, Didsbury, Alta. and Logan Chalack, Innisfail, Alta.. They earned $10,000 for their
black Maine Anjou cross steer.
The reserve champion earned $4,000 and went to Nicona Brost of Irvine, Alta., Deerview Meats, Curtis Flewelling and Logan Chalack.
The grand champion junior steer went to Grayden Kay of Lloydminster, Sask.
The reserve junior steer went to Kathyrn Dolliver of Stettler, Alta. She also won grand champion market heifer.
A youth program called Summer Synergy, held in conjunction with the Stampede and staged at Olds produced the following champions who received their accolades at the Stampede July 13.
The supreme champion dairy female award went to Casey Morey, Rochester, Alta.
The supreme champion sheep went to Shannon McLaughlin, Whitecourt, Alta.
The supreme purebred female went to Kathryn Dolliver.
