Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available May 1 but was $26.34 on April 24.
U.S. hogs averaged $37.48 on a carcass basis May 1, up from $34.20 April 24.
The U.S. pork cutout was $106.61 per cwt. May 1, up from $77.48 April 24.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to May 2 was 1.545 million, down from 1.986 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.366 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the May 2 Signature Five price was C$117.62 per 100 kilograms, up from C$109.56 the previous week.

Crop estimates show mixed results
Model-based estimates used by Statistics Canada showed the 2025/26 crop year has seen increases in canola, corn for grain, oats and lentils production while seeing dips in spring wheat, durum wheat, soybeans and barley in comparison to 2024/25.
On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $53.35, up from $49.70 the previous week.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range were offered prices from C$4 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$3.60-$4.15 per lb. with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers were offered C$3.75 per lb. hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$3.40-$3.80 per lb. Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 918 sheep and lambs and 17 goats sold April 27. Sheep and rams traded at fully steady prices. Lambs sold at prices steady to last week. Goats sold very actively at steady prices.
