Alta. vet clinic database launched
Alberta Farm Animal Care has launched the veterinary clinics database that allows producers to search clinics in a radius of up to 200 kilometres. The database can also be searched for specific species.

Agri-Trade selects innovation finalists
Five companies have been selected to participate in the Agri-Trade Equipment Expo’s Ag Innovations program in Red Deer.
The farm show is scheduled for Nov. 9-11 in Red Deer, and the five finalists will compete for a $20,000 grand prize.

Each finalist will be given five minutes to present to a panel of judges. Attendees will also get to vote and select the winner of the Farmers Choice Award, who will receive $5,000.
The finalists are:
- ATP Nutrition (Nutriscan), a hand-held, diagnostic soil testing technology.
- Opend Range Ltd. (Cowgo Loading System), an aluminum livestock hauling chute that is custom fitted to a cattle liner for loading and unloading cattle.
- Prairie Grain Analyzers Inc. (PGA Auger Sampler with Integrated moisture analyzer), an automatic auger sampler that takes continuous even-sized samples from a grain auger and analyzes the grain on the spot.
- Precision AI (Precision Spray Drone System), which is designed for broad acre crops.
- Seedmaster (Ultra SR), a single rank precision seeding tool.
Canada Post grants support communities
The Canada Post Community Foundation will give grants to 101 organizations to support their efforts to improve the lives of Canadian children and youth.
A total of $1.3 million in grants has been awarded for this year. The recipients include grassroots organizations from every province and territory.
All 2022 grant recipients are listed on the Canada Post Community Foundation website.
Ducks Unlimited honours staffer
Ducks Unlimited Canada has recognized Rick Andrews for 43 years of conservation work in Manitoba by naming 160 acres of marsh and grasslands north of Brandon in his honour.
Andrews joined DUC’s Brandon office in 1977 and remained throughout his career, rising from field biologist to manager of provincial operations.
He worked in numerous roles:
- Gathering data used to develop wetland policies.
- Engineering projects.
- Restoring grasslands and marshes.
- Managing all Manitoba staff and programs from 2015-20.
Significant legislation and policies introduced during his career include:
- North American Waterfowl Management Plan (1987)
- Manitoba Conservation Agreements Act (1997)
- Manitoba Sustainable Watersheds Act (2017)
McCain donates to hurricane relief
McCain Foods and The McCain Foundation have each donated $1 million to the Canadian Red Cross to support efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Fiona on the Canada’s East Coast.
The company was founded in Florenceville, N.B.
