Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$35.61 per hundredweight March 8, up from $34.48 March 1.
U.S. hogs averaged $45.86 on a carcass basis March 8, up from $45.01 March 1.
The U.S. pork cutout was $65.04 per cwt. March 8, up from $61.92 March 1.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 9 was 2.548 million, up from 2.449 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.410 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the March 9 Signature Five price was C$120.44 per 100 kilograms, up from $119.95 the previous week.

On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $54.63, up from $54.41.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.30-$5.60 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.30 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.10-$5.30. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.15.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 530 sheep and lambs and 38 goats sold March 4. A light offering of sheep, lamb and goats sold aggressively at stronger prices.
