Map shows Alberta got most of recent rain

A storm May 24 brought rain and strong winds to the western Prairies.

This map from Agriculture Canada shows the accumulation from May 18 to May 24 (hi-res PDF). The majority of the rain fell May 24.

The largest accumulations of more than 30 millimetres fell in areas around Red Deer, Drayton Valley and Edmonton, however almost all of Alberta got some rain.

Northwestern Saskatchewan also got large accumulations of rain on May 24.

The accumulation in the Winnipeg area on the map was from rain that fell May 21.

Many of the northern areas where rain fell May 24 were already saturated and the new moisture will further delay seeding.

Rain continued in northwestern Saskatchewan and in Manitoba on the morning of May 25.
