Equipment manufacturer receives federal funds for innovation

The federal government is providing $4.1 million to support innovation and international trade in Saskatchewan’s agricultural equipment manufacturing sector.

Morris Industries of Saskatoon will receive close to $3.5 million through the Western Innovation Initiative to increase its production capacity using an advanced manufacturing technology it has commercialized.

Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership will receive $700,000 through the Western Diversification Program to rent trade show floor space at the next Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany. The money will allow STEP to rent about 3,000 square metres of floor space for participants.

Morris and more than 40 other small and medium-sized enterprises from Western Canada will showcase their products and pursue international export sales and business opportunities at the show in November.

Participation could lead to 1,200 trade leads and about $70 million in sales within one year.
