Cervus Equipment Corp. posted net income of $2.5 million in the second quarter of 2016, up from a net loss of $32.2 million for the same period in 2015.

“Cervus realized the benefits of cost reductions initiated in 2015 as reduced expenses mitigated the impact of the challenging markets on our western Canadian commercial and industrial and Saskatchewan transportation operations,” said company head Graham Drake.

Cervus reduced its inventory by $52.3 million, or 14 percent.

Sales of new equipment were $95.2 million, down eight percent.
