MANITOBA
Crops are making good progress, with rain needed in some areas. Hay yields and quality are good.
East
- Canola and flax are blooming and corn is 45 centimetres high.
- Weed spraying is complete.
Central and Interlake
- In central areas, iron chlorosis is reported in soybeans.
- Insect pressure is light, with minor reports of flea beetles, diamondback moths and bertha armyworms.
- Hail fell in several areas.
- In the Interlake, leaf diseases in cereals are being treated.

West
- In the southwest, grasshoppers are hatching in the Melita area.
- In the northwest, weed spraying is largely complete.
SASKATCHEWAN
Pastures are excellent.
East
- In the southeast, crops are advancing rapidly.
- Weed control is hindered by wet conditions.
- Some crops near Regina and Moose Jaw are suffering from excess moisture.
- Tan spot in cereals, net blotch in barley, leaf rust in winter wheat, ascochyta in chickpea and root diseases are reported.
- In the northeast, excess moisture is stressing crops.
- Crusting has hindered canola emergence in the Tisdale area.
- Weed growth is heavy and spraying continues.
Central
- In the east-central area, about 10 to 40 percent of fields will not be seeded and another 10 to 45 percent of seeded fields are flooded.
- Crops not flooded continue to advance, with early seeded crops looking good.
- In west-central areas, crops are advancing rapidly.
- Weed growth is heavy.
- Tan spot, net blotch and rust sclerotinia apothecia are reported.
- Gopher problems reported.
West
- Crops in very good condition.
- Some flood damage in the south.
- Cereal diseases reported are tan spot, spot blotch and septoria.
- Most chickpeas sprayed with a fungicide.
- Cabbage seed pod weevils are reported.
- In the north, cereals are at flag leaf, six to eight node and canola is bolting to flowering.
ALBERTA
Haying has begun and pastures are in good shape.
South
- Silage corn looks good after heavy rain last week. Low lying areas show excess water stress.
- Tan spot, septoria and net blotch are reported.
Central
- Diseases reported are tan spot, net blotch, spot blotch and scald. Root maggot larvae are now common in canola fields.
- Silaging has begun on perennial forages and fall seeded crops.
North
- In the east, weed control nearly complete. Cereal leaf diseases reported.
- In the west, cereals are at flag leaf, canola bolting to flowering and peas eight node to flowering.
Peace River
- Many canola fields are showing effects of water stress with thin spindly plants now near flowering.
- Weed pressure is heavy where spraying was delayed.
- Cereal leaf diseases are reported.
